I am Miss Blais and I am the ELA teacher for the 8th Grade Wildifre Team.
In ELA, you will venture to many new worlds through the reading and analysis of short stories, poetry, novels, and non-fiction and the devices employed by its authors. This class is not just reading! In Literature you will enhance your vocabulary, fine-tune your analytical and persuasive writing, and orally debate and discuss the many themes that weave throughout all of literature.
You will be able to find nightly and weekly assignments, due dates, test and quiz dates, copies of in-class assignments and different resources to help you improve your knowledge of English literature and writing through the utilization of this site. USE THE TABS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE AS A NAVIGATION TOOL. There will also be daily/weekly blogs for you to read and respond to, and I invite academic discussions to take place in the blog feature.

Unit 1: Short Stories :
In this unit, students will build a foundation of literary vocabulary that will be used throughout the course of the year; The written focus will be a choice for students: the final project is a choice of Response to Literature or Narrative; They will read the following stories: “Flowers for Algernon” “The Lady or the Tiger?” “The Ransom of Red Chief” “Pandora’s Box” “The Wise Old Woman,” “The Monkey’s Paw,” and “The Medicine Bag.”
